When we tell people we practise permaculture, we usually get some questions. The interesting thing is the type of questions we are asked. Usually the person asking us has a plant or tree that has some sort of disease and we are asked what they can do about it. It is interesting how we are all so indoctrinated into thinking that someone who works with nature, plants and animals should just know how to treat something that is diseased without doing any further research or knowing the circumstances…
Looking back on a great long weekend at CelebrATE!, a two day celebration of Permaculture, Music and Food. Workshops with Jason Davies, Amanda Moore, Tom Kendall, Jodie Williams and Zaia Kendall, a music jam with Linsey Pollak, performances by the Unusual Suspects, Mal Webb & Kylie Morrigan and the Formidable Vegetable Sound System and food by Black Ant Gourmet.
We are masters of trying to control our environment as humans, to the detriment of our species. We are so linear, we have removed ourselves completely from the natural environment and label everything. We need more holistic thinkers, more people that can see the whole picture and the amazing interaction between all the elements in a system…
Tom and I are excited to open our gates to people for CelebrATE! on Labour Day weekend, and to showcase our permaculture property which is currently providing us with around 90% of our food, 100% of our cooking energy needs and most of our animal feed.
The not for profit Permaculture Research Institute Sunshine Coast Inc. (www.permaculturesunshinecoast.org) is organising CelebrATE!, a two day celebration of Permaculture, Music and Food on our Permaculture Demonstration and Education site “Maungaraeeda” (Place of Food) in the Noosa Hinterland town of Kin Kin on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
The grade 9 class from the Noosa Pengari Steiner Waldorf school had a 2 week permaculture school camp at Maungaraeeda. They had a electronic free 2 weeks on the land, a wonderful group of students and teachers!
The Permaculture Research Institute Sunshine Coast Inc. is looking for two dedicated, hard working Permaculture trainees, possibly for a longer term. We are offering a hands on Permaculture training experience at the Permaculture Demonstration and Education site Maungaraeeda, taught by PRI accredited teacher Tom Kendall.

Final day of the Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course, certificates, last dinner and talent night!
On the final day of the Permaculture Design Certificate course run by the Permaculture Research Institute Sunshine Coast Inc. and taught by Tom Kendall, students presented their designs, were in turn presented their certificates, had their final dinner and dessert and entertained in / were entertained by the talent show!

Day 9 of the Permaculture Design Certificate / PDC course and we had juice, pancakes, chocolate cake and fish, and the students are doing more design work. As an added extra, they will go to the Permaculture Noosa group meeting tonight and hopefully get inspired!
